The Plot,
The year is 2100. In the new era the government has collapsed in what used to be North America. A violent leader that calls himself the Ruler has taken charge and forced the population into submission. People live in very large city clusters. The clusters consist of; A Town meeting place where all of the city's adults gather to receive information from the Ruler, a Government Office where the people collect their stamp(a stamp that declares how much food and supplies they get for the month, the rations are determined by your level), a Market where people turn in their stamp and the workers bring out everything that the people get for their rations, and housing which is also assigned according to your level within the government.
The Levels are as follows:
Level 1: Usually government workers, school teachers, or people that are close to the Ruler. They receive very large portions and live in or very close to the cities, where the protection from nightmare's is the best. (While in school, students are considered level 1, living in the heart of the capitol, closest to the Ruler.)
Level 2: Usually the soldiers that work for the government. They live just on the outskirts of the clusters, less than a few minutes away. This is because they need to be able to respond immediately if not sooner if something happens. They receive decent portions, enough to keep them and their families from complaining.
Level 3: Maintenance and market workers would be categorized as level three. They are easily replaced there for they live outside of the city clusters. Soldiers are sent out once every few days to make sure chaos hasn't broken out, but a dead body here and there isn't that big of a deal. Their rations are very small, but enough to keep them from starving to death.
Level 4: These are the unemployed and the homeless. They usually live in abandoned buildings and rotting houses. They government doesn't care what happens to them so they very rarely send anyone this far out of town to check on them. A few sympathetic government workers will break the law by bringing some of their rations out here to help feed the starving, but very few of them will risk doing it.
The Ruler is a warlock that has dabbled in the dark magic. He has found away to make himself immortal. He is planning on turning the dark realm and the human realm into one realm, creating a feeding ground for the Nightmares. As of now only small nightmares can slip through and that is where the creatures come in. The nightmares can only be viewed by everyone, including the normal humans, but only the ones with the sight know what they truly are. Everyone with the sight has set out to destroy the small nightmares and find a way to close the hole before this realm sinks into total chaos like the Faerie Realm did.
There is also only one school that every teen goes to. They stay there year round once they turn 13. Parents have no choice but to ship their children off, if they try to hide a child the government will find out and they will be publicly executed in front of their child. It is right in the middle of the capitol and also right next to the hole in the realms. The teens come here and are taught about the government and are essentially brain washed into thinking that the system is great.
In this role play you will play as one of the following species; Vampire, Werewolf, Shape-Shifter, Elementalist, Fairie, Deamon, Angel, Whitch/Warlock, Elf, or a human with the sight. Some of these beings are part of a secret society that is set up to destroy nightmares and try to find a way to shut down the Hole. Some of them don't even know what is happening or that there is others like them out there and they just go on living their normal lives going to school or work. Then there are the few that decided they like what the world would turn into if the nightmare's took over and they are fighting on the side of the nightmares, these are the beings that are recruited by the Ruler. No one knows the Ruler's true form every one believes he is just a sadistic human but they are soon to find out that all is not as it seems.
So when you create your character you are going to have to pick a side. Do you want to be fighting with the Ruler, or against the ruler? Or do you want to be completely oblivious? Its up to you.
